KARACHI: Three ‘terrorists’ were killed and a paramilitary soldier wounded as a ‘shootout’ took place between Rangers and miscreants in Karachi late on Wednesday, a paramilitary spokesman said.
Rangers personnel conducted a raid in Manghopir area late on Wednesday night, after they were tipped off of terrorists’ presence in the vicinity, said a spokesperson for Pakistan Rangers Sindh. The ‘terrorists’ opened fire on paramilitary personnel as they spotted them and tried to flee away.
In retaliation, one terrorist was gunned down, he said.
“Reinforcements were called in as the personnel sensed there could be a large number of miscreants hiding out there,” the spokesman said.
“The further exchange of fire from two sides left two more terrorists dead,” he said, adding a paramilitary soldier was also reported wounded in the wake of gunbattle, he added.
The deceased were said to be affiliated with an outlawed organisation.
The local police were called in after the shootout, who conducted a thorough search of the area and later cleared it.
