In a disheartening incident that took place on Saturday, the body of a young girl, believed to have succumbed to drug abuse, was discovered abandoned at the emergency ward of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in Karachi. This distressing event unfolded when an unidentified man and woman discreetly left the crowded trauma center, leaving the body behind. Authorities from the hospital immediately reported the incident to the police, who are currently investigating the matter.

Seeking Answers: Unraveling the Mystery

The police officials are diligently working to unravel the details of the crime, including the identification of the vehicle used. Although initial reports suggest a drug overdose as the possible cause of death, the exact circumstances leading to the young girl’s demise can only be confirmed once the autopsy report is released.

According to the police, the deceased girl was transported to the hospital from the Defence Housing Authority. The individuals responsible for bringing her to the medical center quickly provided preliminary information before making their hasty exit. Hospital authorities revealed that the woman claimed her name was “Sehrish,” while the deceased girl was identified as “Ayesha.”

Discovering the Timeline: Insights from the Investigation

SSP South Asad Raza shed light on the incident, stating that the girl’s lifeless body was brought to the hospital at 7:30 a.m. Sadly, she was already deceased upon arrival. While the postmortem examination is currently underway, early indications point towards a fatal drug overdose as the likely cause of death. The investigation is still ongoing to determine if the girl experienced any form of torture prior to her demise.

Raza further informed the public that the authorities have successfully identified the car, its driver, and the passengers involved, thanks to the close-circuit television (CCTV) footage obtained from the hospital. The footage captured the vehicle’s arrival at the emergency room entrance at precisely 7:28 a.m. A woman and a man were observed leaving the car and subsequently moving the body on a gurney. Additionally, the footage reveals their interaction with the hospital staff in the emergency room. Notably, at one point, the woman was seen leaving the room while engaged in a phone conversation.

The woman departed from the emergency room premises at 07:42 a.m., following which the hospital staff examined the body on the gurney. Authorities from the hospital have since identified the 18-year-old girl and preliminary reports indicate that her husband hails from Lahore.

Autopsy Findings: Shedding Light on the Cause of Death

Dr. Summaiya, the Police Surgeon, addressed the media and provided an update on the autopsy performed on the woman’s body. While the exact cause of death is yet to be determined, samples have been collected for chemical analysis. Initial observations indicate no signs of physical torture on the body. Furthermore, fingerprints of the deceased have been obtained to aid in the investigation. The police surgeon explained that a comprehensive postmortem report, based on the results of the chemical analysis, will eventually unveil the true cause of death.

The discovery of the abandoned body at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre has sparked widespread concern within the community. As authorities delve deeper into the investigation, they remain committed to seeking justice and uncovering the truth behind this tragic case of drug abuse.
